Well good afternoon all!

Hopefully will be going into some new employment in the near future which will be put me in a position to own something silly! (30 sec walk to work)

Currently driving around in a lightly modded Fiat Coupe 20vt and what a car it is! Nothing comes close to the coupe for looks and fun at that price.

I am however severely tempted to enter the world of TVR. I am in no way going to jump in head first, never have done and would like to say I never will.

This is the reason I am here! Thought about and looked at some TVR options and the Cerbera appeals to me the most, don't know why just does.

WHat should I look out for when looking/buying one?

I apologise, but I am notoriously shite at using search tools on websites!

Hi Mark and welcome wavey

Read through some/all of these http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/search4.asp?h=0...

Should give you a start.

Im not so sure, personally, if a Cerb is the ideal 'first TVR' and the running costs are going to be, I would imagine, considerably more than your current motor.

But as they say, you only live once smile

PS Despite what some may say, yelows are the fastest (though not necessarily in my hands paperbag)

Have to dissagree on that one. biggrin

But then maybe I'm bias. wink

Back to Cerberas - do your research, it can be a fiendishly expensive car to own and run. I say to most people who ask 'it's more of a hobby than a means of transport' if you take that view you'll love it.

Good luck

Tim

WHat would be an "Ideal" TVR for first ownership?

I reckon it depends which one floats your boat... I suppose the Chimaera is the most 'common' (if any TVR could ever be described as that), and I guess maybe easier (slightly less expensive?) to live with.

My Cerb is my first TVR, but that's the one I have always wanted, so there wasn't a choice to be made really - and it's a hobby for me, not may only means of transport.

Do some research on the trials and tribulations of ownership for the various models, compare to your budget for running costs. Go into it with your eyes open.
Then drive a few cars - then disregard all the research you did and buy the car that makes you grin the most biggrin

Another Fccuk'er (Fiat Coupe Club Forum) who is converting from the Coupe to a Cerb.........I reckon I've started a trend. Caduceus who used to be on there now owns a Cerb, I've had two and Roly and Frag off the forum are both toying with the idea.

You already know that the Coupe can cost a bit to keep going especially when tuning it, so double that and you should be ok for Cerb ownership.

Jules.

Hi Mark

My Cerbera was my first TVR, people thought I was mad, but after almost 3 years ownership I am much lighter in the pocket but it still makes me smile

I wondered whether you would be on here or not! Yer very aware of the costs of running such a beast! IN fact it was yours that kinda made me think about the Cerb!

Where you based?

I'm another that's moved from Coupe to Cerb! It was difficult to find a replacement for the coop, but it seemed like natural progression.

Hmm...
Interesting as I'm thinking of chopping in my snotter for a Fiat Coupe as my snotter now seems so slooooww.

Incidentally my first TVR was also a Cerbera which I've owned for roughly 4 weeks and have spent just shy of £3000 already biggrin
