Hi guys, have had the Cerby 3 weeks now and covered a couple a hundred miles. Car is awesome don't know why I didn't buy one earlier. Due an MOT next month and have been looking over the car. Am I going mad or was it intentional to stick the No Plate lights "behind" the No Plate. How can a car pass the MOT with no evident No Plate lights?

The Cerb number plates are 'backlit' and the plates themselves have to be special ones/semi transparent, which allow the light through from the back

Most TVR garages will knock out a pair (good for the MOT regs) for about £20 to £30...

Take 'em off after the MOT, put your old ones on and keep 'em nice and new for the next MOT. thumbup

Well, you learn something everyday. If TVR garages can make em, does this mean I have to drag myself out of Mid Wales or will they do it mail order? I don't see how they can, new regs mean they have to sight the v5 etc.

You can buy them on line from fancyplates. Are you sure the current ones arent ok?

You may not need to get new ones as the car should already have translucent plates, you would only need to change them if they are opaque or illegal.

Any sign company will be able to make them for you.

You need to get them made out of the material used for lightboxes.

Simple as that.

I need new plates cos I did'nt want the personalised plate that was on the car. So it has been re-registered. I have the documentation, with the exception of the V5 which will follow in the next couple of weeks. Instead I have a form V948 issued by DVLC, which is a Number plate authorisation Certificate. So if someone can do them for me on the Internet, I would be extremely pleased.

www.fancyplates.com

Specify TVR in the drop down box and they'll make up a rear translucent one for you. Just order on line. They're in Norn Iron so no need for all the DVLA certificate malarky.

mine are not back lit, they are lit from above like most other cars.
i like the sound of the back lit ones though. any chance of a photo without the flash on a night?

Thats coz you have a late Cerb which (I pressume?) has the later sloping number plate?

I used Fancyplates. Service was excellent and very reasonable in terms of price.
