Do I have the correct chip in my ECU?
Discussion
Hi
Just a thought; the mechanic who did my tappets reckoned I had a later chip in my ECU.
As my car is an early 1996 with the early cams (which he confirmed) would the later chip have its map optimised for the later "quieter" cams? I understand their profile was different.
Therefore would my car be better off with the earlier chip?
Maybe I am better off with the later one for starter motor purposes etc.
Any thoughts greatly received.
Cheers
Ed
PS I will have a look in a mo and see what is written on the chip.

i've compared a few early and late chips for the 4.2 and as far as the fuel and ignition maps are concerned i haven't yet found any chips which differ. so you can keep your late chip with your early cams, an earlier chip will not make any difference to hp or driveability from what I have seen so far.
