Hi Folks,

My first thread in here, having just bought my first Cerbera this week I thought I had better get myself out there!

Anyway, bit limited on knowledge when it comes to these cars so far, so go easy on me eh!

So, I already have some 18" rims fitted to the car but I am unsure as to if they are a little bit "blingy" for me? I have been looking about and have seen a few sets of more sedate rims that I like but am unsure as to correct or best sizes?

I am looking at 18" rims as the tyres fitted are currently very good so seems a shame to fork out for new ones. They are 225 x 35 in size all round by the way.

I have read on some sites that wheels are different offsets and widths for front and rear, did I read this right? Is this the best route or should I look to get all the same?

All advice and pointers much appriciated.

Cheers for now

Dave...

Yep...

They may grow on me yet, and now I think about it. The tyres may be different front and back? Not collecting the car until Saturday so cant check.

I am thinking they would look better in Gold?? Its all the screws that have me thinking Mmm??

Cheers

18" Spiders are all Tuscan fronts all round, i.e. same offset front and rear. However, if you fit the appropriate wheel width for the differing tyre widths front and rear (say 8" for the front and 9" for the rear), then the offsets should alter too.

Steve.

So keeping them all the same woul dbe what offset then??

Makes for an easier life when tyre wear hits the rears quicker. Just swap em round before changing the full set.

225's on the REAR!!!!!????? yikesyikesyikes

Get those off immediately!!!!!

I can't see how the hell you'd keep the power down with 225's! I found it a little slippery on 245's and have since moved to 255/35/ZR18 on the rear (which corrected the 2mph inaccuracy in the speedo BTW).

225/40/ZR18 is fine for the FRONT.

Fitting wider tyres can actually make a car more "slippery". As mentioned I am new to this Cerbera world so all input much appriciated. I am also guessing that the same size tyre is all around as I dont pick the car up until Saturday, but have since asked the question.

Still cant work out if the wheels are too much for my taste, but I have seen some much more brash alloys on some cars on here already. They are still not to my taste so far tho, so the search continues for a decent replacement.

What other cars share the same PCD and offset as a Cerb by the way? Just wondering what market I would have for after sale of these wheels should I change them?

Cheers

most of the decent Japanese performance cars have the same bolt pattern as Cerbs (5 x 114.3) Offset wise you should be safe with Supra/RX7/Skyline GTST wheels. Anything from Work or Volk are pure race wheels, extremely light and suit the Cerbera very well in my opinion. The wheels on your car look like a max power disaster if you don't mind me saying ! biggrin

not sure how wider rubber can make a car more slippery ?

Try driving in Mud and Snow with wide tyres and get back to me! wink

Yeah, you are right about the Max power bling thing with the wheels, I just made my mind up and am going with my first impression. They are just way too flashy for a Cerb. Just not for me. Ebay here they come...

From the following offsets, what are best suited to a Cerb in peoples opinions then??

18" 5x114 et35,5x114 et37,5x114 et38,5x114 et40,5x114 et42,5x114 et45

Cheers again

We try to keep it on the black stuff... Interesting argument, but slightly flawed, as long as pressures are adjusted accordingly and there is the weight over it, I dont see why there couldnt be gains. A rather simplistic view on things, but in terms of straight line traction atleast, it may be of benefit to go *slightly* wider with slightly lower pressure. The Cerb may not have more than 50% of its weight over the back wheels static, but when its firing forward at a fair rate it doesnt have hunker down on those back wheels!

Perhaps this is one for another thread though...

Welcome to Cerbera ownership anyway! Keep it on the black stuff, narrow tyres or not. hehe

Cheers! Hopefully no mud for the TVR. Will save that for the other toys in my box!

So getting back to offsets, from my list above what do people sugest? I seem to come up with a lot of wheel options that mention a 38. But I await words from the wise??

I never realised that they were the same.

Maybe I'll do a swap with my Skyline wheels one of these days to see how they fit, and look, on the Cerb.

They have the same bolt pattern, but not the same centre bore. If the bore of the wheel is too large, you can work around this with a locating ring. Similarly, if the offset is greater than you need you work around this too with spacers. When I was investigating one place recommended a billet spacer which bolted to the hub using the existing studs and had further studs mounted within it.

I could still do with knowing what offset best suits an 18" rim on a Cerb? Has anyone got a clue?? Most of the rims I check seem to be ET38, does this sound about right or should I go more, or less?

Cheers

A kind friend has been photshopping for me, what do you think of these...

As the car looks now, and not happy with the wheels -

Quite like these wheels but they only come in 7.5" width so maybe too narrow -

But look what a difference my current wheels make if done in Gold -

They look better already, a tad less yellow and I may just be able to live with them??

Thoughts??

Whatever you do all those wheels dont do the car any justice.
Would be better of with some 17 inch RL7s or spiders (or SP12s).
