Hi Folks,

Anyone know where I can get hold of relacement trim pieces that run down either side of the windscreen, in carbon fibre??

I have seen them fitted to cars previously but cant locate a supplier?

Cheers

I look forward to seeing comments on this one! I too could do with some new ones, but as far as I know, you just can't find them! I have now decided that perhaps I rather like them 'matt', so am making good progress picking the remaining lacquer off!! smile

I would also be interested to hear if they are available - ideal I need the rear window trim as well as mine are all matt black.

Hello mate, I did not know you drifted through these parts? Good to see I am not alone in the strange new world! LOL

I guess lots of folk are looking for the same carbon trims as myself then. Could be worth me getting a batch made up??

Cheers

How did you know it was me by the way? My usual Old School Ford names have already been used on here so had to think of a new one. I suppose it was the reg number as my sig that gave it away??

I know when I had my windscreen replaced in December? that these were quite rare. Luckily the fitters were experienced with TVR's and they managed to detach the existing ones with no damage at all.

I'd guess the obvious places would be TVR Power, or how about David Gerrald TVR (http://www.davidgeraldtvr.com/) in Worcs. He has stock of windscreens, so maybe he has the trim as well?

Mine were all peeling, so i just took all the old laquer off and re sprayed them. Look quite good now.

That was good thinking Graham - I'm probably not as clever as you with this stuff though! Good to know that it works, may have to get that done! Thanks smile

Graham, how are they fixed on by the way? Is it just glue? How did you get them off without breaking anything. Bare in mind I am a heavy handed bugger!

Didn't take them off, just masked around them with masking tape and newspaper. You need to be careful when spraying, lots of thin coats to prevent sags and runs. Then leave for a few days to harden and polish out the orange peel effect.

I will have a look at the weekend then. But one of mine has a slight chip in it so may need to just fill and paint satin black. I was hoping they would come off easy but will try your method first.

Cheers.
