I know I should of regularly started the car and kept the battery on a trickle charger but I was lazy and didnt. So now my new clutch has finnaly arrived and I'm going to 'break in' and jump start it tonight, to try to get a bit of charge into the battery. Is there anything special I need to consider? Other than checking fluids and the standard stuff?

cheers
Pete

Yeah the brakes! My master went when mine was parked up for a few months and I nearly shit me self when I had no brakes after covering a mile! Not nice feeling with no handbrake either! hehe

A bit off topic, but I use Solar panel trickle charges for my cars as I spend time away from home. Seem to keep the battery ticking over a treat! I also dont put the handbrake on if a car is to be sat for any long periods of time, keeps pressure out of the system and pads off discs.

I am going to have to find out how to "break in" to my car for future reference I reckon. Must be a nightmare if battery goes dead!

Cheers

Take it to your nearest dealer/indie or take it to the local TVRCC monthly meet and someone will show you the secret way in wink

Dave, are those the chargers you plug into the cigarette lighter? Might have to get one of those. Though mine never usually gets chance to run down I'm always driving its only when I have problems like this that it gets neglected.

Yes mate, thats the ones. They also come with two crocodile clips to fix it direct to a battery if required. I bought all mine from Maplins as they are oten on special at just £9.99 a pop. Think they are that price just now actually.

I haven't seen my car for three months...getting very frustrating now!

Last I have heard it has made it's way to TVR power to have a new ECU chip burnt.

The chip should be available straight from a mappers file? Unless you are going for live mapping. Long time for that tho! Good luck!

The handbrake doesn't out any pressure in the system - it's purely mecahnical and operates on the rear drums only.

No - not a live mapping. The latest thinking is that the ECU map has become corrupt someplace and they are trying to reset it. The problem is basically some rough running with a warm engine at the 4k range.

And that was a chim eek

The cost is something that you can deal with - it may involve selling body organs but you can deal with it. It is the waiting that gets me - every day for the last 6-7 weeks I have phoned the garage. I think the garage is as fed up as I am but I am obsessed!

Ah, I see. So no hydraulic handbrake then. I learn something new everyday. I dont why, but I just assumed it was hydraulic. Still can get the pads sticking to the discs or siexing tho I bet? I will still leave mine sat without the park brake just be sure.

Cheers.
