Hi TC/everyone. The insurance company have finally decided to repair my cerb. It only took them 8 weeks to make that decision. So after surfing the classifieds for the last couple of months I have mixed feelings about getting her back. On the plus side it'd be great to have my P&J back all fixed up, and it would've been a shame to have another cerb bite the dust. On the other (selfish) hand it'll be months before I get it back, if the progress so far is anything to go by, and I'd psyched myself up for getting something even better as a replacement.
Bizarrely, they have elected to have a garage in Exeter fix it (I live near Guildford). The garage is called Alansway (anyone any experience of them?) who apparently specialise in bodywork repair. IMO replacing the loom and electrical boxes of tricks will be the tricky part rather than the bodywork, but they assure me this place know what they're doing. I'll keep you posted.
Not enjoying being cerbless. Reading the LT forum doesn't help, sounds like fun - enjoy it whenever/wherever it is you lucky cerb-driving b*ggers
Cheers,
-Rog.

Having just got my P&J back after a 3 month wait (following an unpleasing meeting between a scaffold pole and my sump) I know how you feel. The initial work to replace the sump took 6 weeks, getting the car running A1 again after all the engine out work took 8 weeks!!!!
But, now I have her back and the world is right again.

Well that just cheers me up no end
I knew I'd miss FT, but now the Cerburgring part deux and a half is looking unlikely. Not sure I can take much more. Goodbye cruel world
Edited to add: at least I have some new Spiders to go on when she comes back. I've bucked the SP trend and gone OEM. For the time being I just admire them in my lounge

Alansway in Exeter? I would give them a ring, I think they are just a generic body repair shop, does the insurance company know it fiberglass?Alansway Body Repairs

If I were you I would move the car to a well known TVR center, Austec, TVR Power etc. You don't have to accept where the insurance company wants to send you car – it is your decision where your car is repaired. The insurance company might huff and puff if you want to send it someplace else as they won't be getting their pre-arranged lower rates but ultimately it is your decision to make and the insurance company knows that.
My advice would be to move your car to a repairer of your own choice.
Good luck.
