Hi,

I'm already thinking about the changes I want to do to my car over the winter months in time for next years Sprint season, and on that list is new tyres, but I'm thinking that changing to 17" rims may be another option and offer more choice in tyres.

So, what tyre sizes are you running on your 17" racelines?

Also, does anyone have an old set of rims knocking around their garage taking up valuable space that they want to get shot of CHEAP? I've already spent a load of money on the car recently so I'm afraid they need to be really cheap. biggrin

Please email me if you can help: tim@cerberafourtwo.co.uk

Thanks

Tim

Dont have any spare 17" rims, but if your just looking for an extra set of rims then I have a set of 16" cerbera alloys you can have for £150.

235/45/17 Front IIRC
255/45/17 Rear IIRC

Cant confirm as the Cerb is currently at Trackcar for some tweakage... wink

We've got a spare set of wheels in the shed (ex-Matt Oakley Cerb!), but I think dad has plans for them im afraid, I'll ask though...

235/40 on the front. 255/40 on the back.

I don't think 235/40/17 is a common size of tyre. I'm trying to get 2 new Toyo T 1R's for mine and They are on a 3 week delivery. (none in the country).

Could be a one off but It may be worth researching if you're going to be going through a lot of tyres.

Got it in one. biggrin

So, come on who's got some 17" rims they want shot of?

Failing that what sizes are the standard Racelines, I've found the following: PDC = 5x114, Offset = 35 to 45 and bore 71.5mm

But what are the actual offsets for the fronts and rears and also how wide are the rims?

So, if I can't find some Racelines I may have to go down another route.

Thanks guys

Tim

Tim,

I'm changing rims to 18 inch for next season as the Cerb continues on its road of development. I have gone to great pains to collect 3 sets which has taken favours and time and significant money as they are actually quite rare now in terms of spares as people have moved off of the 16s and onto them. They'll become available later in the yaer when the body work gets chopped and the big tackys go on.

You know it makes sense, do the man maths, it will look so good and may sort that roll out a bit, my one didn't do that on Nitrons, where did you get them from?whistle

You've got a lot to answer for Mr Wilson - you started me on this slippery slope. biggrin

Lets have a chat when you take 'em off.

Not sure if I could stand my algorythm if I change to slicks!!!!!!

As for the Nitrons - Hmmmmmmm WTF happened there? Think I need stiffer springs.

Hi Tim,

for what its worth having tried all sorts of different options, (225's front and rear) and (225's front with 245's rear) i have settled on 235's front and rear for the 17" racelines. i find it gives the best balance front and rear in terms of grip through a bend.

hope this helps

Sizes also available as Toyo R888s (and 17s are less than 18s!)

I ran 235s on the front and 255 road tyres on the back, I think the wider 255 888 rub on the arches as I remember Andy Farrell had them on his Cerb, as they are effectively a racing compound and squarer on the wall.

Hi. I've measured a set of 17s off the car tonight with two surprises: the offset isn't stamped on the inside and all four wheels have both the same rim width and the same offset.

They are 8J x 17 with a 41mm offset (calculated by measuring the overall width of the wheel, 9", and subtracting half of that from the distance from the outside of the rim to the hub face, 6 and 1/8th", giving 1 and 5/8", or 41mm)

BTW the PCD is the traditional english 4.5" or 114.3mm.

Have you had a look at these wheels: http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/ ?

Cheers, Jonathan
