depends what CLK AMG it was.If it was a 65,then with all your power boosts available for the Cerb, you will still have a hard time keeping up with it.I have driven a CL65 AMG extensivly, and can tell you it has warp like acceleration.Unlike anything ive experienced in a Cerb.

very good!

still weigh it all 12k for a half decent cerb and what 60k upwards for the amg, know what i'd rather be in and plus you don't look like a tt in a cerb!

Danny,

I think you'll find that your Cerb *may* be a little down on power. At Fighting Torque your were almost 2.5 seconds behind the quickest Cerb (albeit a proven 440bhp) and a good 1-1.5 seconds behind most of the other Cerbs.........a second must be a good 10-12 car lengths. My diesel BMW was quicker than your Cerb as were the BMW M3 CSL and Z3MCoupe, so it's no suprise that this Merc spanked you. Most Cerbs would show all of the cars mentioned above a clean pair of heels. I reckon you'll find that if you put you Cerb on a rolling road that it will down on power 300bhp or less. Might be worth getting it checked out and hopefully you'll find your lost horses.........

Jules.

bear in mind thought those other cerbs were v8's and mine is a speed six
although i do feel there is more to be had from it.
the z3m i raced at fighting torque i later found out wasn't standard
and the ferrari at lunch time today couldn't seem to get past me either although again i wasn't exactly pulling away from it

Could have been a DTM, almost 600 brake & about double the amount of torque that your car's got, combine that with an autobox that changes gear about a second quicker than you can....

You aint getting near that baby smile

ahem!

Was it the old or new shape CLK? How many exhausts? If it was 2 on either side, then that'd have been a CLK 63 AMG. 480bhp, ~500lb/ft torque.

RussellM makes a good point...

I had never really thought about automatic/SMG gearboxes until hanging onto the tails of a Ferrari 430 a few weeks ago. By the time my clutch foot had hit the floor he was already up a gear and (slowly) pulling away...

In our competition experience, over a 1/4mile a 63AMG (CLS granted) isnt a match, certainly not quicker) - a 65AMG however is quicker, by a few tenths/ im guessing at a car length?! (CL and SL's have compete in this spec, the CL was strangely faster??) The aformentioned CL65AMG was so impressively quick that the same guy took an SLR to the speed trials a year later and could only match its time, not beat it!?! eeknuts

Having driven both the Cerb and the 65 AMG,i can safely say that the 65 would obliterate a Cerb.I think we need to realise. And FT proved this to a point, that cars have moved on a bit since the introduction of the Cerb

True....although depends on state of tune of the Cerb

But Warpigs car is still down on power in my opinionrotate

Um. He said it was a CLK. If it is, then it's lighter than the CL and SL which will help a lot.

I wouldnt have though there was much in it weight wise, then again im not good on merc figures. IIRC the SL and CL are seperated by 200kilos and the CLS is lighter than either? I assumed the CLK would be compareable. I stand corrected. smile

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I'm not harping on again about s6 cerbs, it's been done to a death.

What we realy need is to put this into a true perspective. The S6 is no match for an AJP8 in 'full grunt mode'...end of.

has a standard ajpV8 ever run side by side with a s6 cerb...fighting torque?

we are talking men against boys, not sure if the difference is enough to 'spank' the merc, but i'm certain any well set up ajp8 would run it close in the drivability stakes.

So the bottom line is you had yer arse handed to you...live with it.
