Do I have a sports exhaust?
Discussion
Most sports exhausts that I have seen run separately up the entire system, 2 sep boxes the works. The standard exhaust has both pipes (from the cat back) going into a large box, oval shaped from the side and then 2 exit pipes coming out of that. The only exception to this that I am aware of is the Silverstone Performance Exhaust which has a similar set up to the factory unit, but it has larger bore pipes and SP stamped on the end of each pipe.
I couldn't believe how easy it seems to be to pass the MOT.
My Cerb had just passed it's MOT shortly before I got it.
I got the car back here and looked over it I couldn't believe how many big things were wrong with it.
I'm still doing jobs to it to get it good enough to put it forward for it's NCT (National Car Test) and it'll probably still fail on something ..... most likely emissions.
Anyhow, back to the original topic ..... don't the sports pipes sound great.

It sounds fantastic, especialy now it is running better (new plugs and magnecors last weekend!)
I rather suspect that the dealer that I bought it from had a 'tame' MOT station as I have certainly had cars fail for less in the past.
No horn - still unresolved
No wipers - fuse blown
No screen wash - bottle empty
One brake light out - bulb blown

There is, I believe, another configuration for those that ordered the 'sports exhaust' option from the factory, which is identical to the standard exhaust but with the baffles surgically removed from the rear box.
You can't tell from looking at it without removing the rear box from the car, since the only evidence of said surgery is two square weld marks on the upper side of the baffle.
I've been wrong before (eg in 1987), but my car had this doctored box and the original invoice has the sports exhaust option on it.
So some people might have a 'sports exhaust', as defined by TVR, and not know it.

Bugger, I've just taken my sports exhaust off and fitted the original cat exhaust system so as to get it throught the MOT. Has anyone failed an MOT with sports exhaust or have I waisted my time?My Cerb had just passed it's MOT shortly before I got it.

I have just put mine up for MOT with sports exhausts and had it not been for one or two other things it would have flown through. I don't think sports exhausts make a difference.Bugger, I've just taken my sports exhaust off and fitted the original cat exhaust system so as to get it throught the MOT.
