Hi all
Does anyone know any special techniques for removing the exhuast manifold hex bolts? I can only get to about 2 of the blighters as the manifold itself and the inner wing is is tne way.

Im desperate as i amhaving to drive it with a leak and am getting gassed!

Have you soaked them in WD40, Plus Gas or similar?

Its not the fact that they are stuck. I just cant get to them. I am trying to use allen keys and a hex socket set but its the pipework from the manifold and the inner wing that gets in the way, and as for the one closest to the bulkhead, i just cant even get my fingers to it let alone get the socket down there!!

There must be a special tool i just dont have?

Apparently it is a lot easier if you loosen the engine mounts and move the engine slightly to get the manifolds off.

I take it you have cap head bolts then with hexagon holes?

I know Snap-On do a set of Allen Keys with a very short stumpy L shape to them.

Or you could find one of those Hex Socket sets and use a 10mm spanner to turn them rather than a socket?

Ok thanks i will check them out. I was looking at it last night and just could not figure it out. Its like you would need a allen key with a UJ on it, and how you get to the back one???

When I took mine off, those nearest to the bulkhead were easier to get to from underneath. I don't have hex bolts on mine but its still a pain tho.

If you are actually removing the manifolds then you will almost certainly have to move the engine over to get the manifold out, so you might as well move it over first to give you more access to the bolts.

All i need to actually do is get some new sealant in there as the joint has gone and im being gassed!
Does that still mean taking the maifold off or will it move away and give me sufficient room to squidge some in?
Anybody know how long this may take for a tvr garage to do? And therefore how much £££££'s???

I undid my mounts and lifted the engine a bit and used socket allen key with various knuckles and bars
- nothings ever easy - but always resolvable with a little time!
