HI i have been test driving a couple of cerbs, 4.2 only, and although i haven't completely booted it i think they would only wheel spin in first and the power seems to come in quite high in the rev range, but it's there, is this normal, or should they have more power to spin in second and third, both cars had original 17" saturns on them. and tested on normal road surface in dry. Have i only tested lazy cerbs.

My 4.2 feels like all it's torque comes in, at low revs, and will light the rears up quite easily in second, possibly third.

My 4.5 looks like it's got a better map and keeps pulling all the way through the revs, but doesn't feel as "violent" on first acceleration.

Guess it's down to how each car is mapped, as to how it will feel on acceleration.

Hope that helps smile

In my 4.5 I've certainly felt traction going on hard acceleration in 2nd in the dry (easier at high revs ie. when you're moving a bit so BE CAREFUL!!).

Good point.... I almost killed me and the car a week in to ownership.

My 4.2 gives you grip, then gives an extra blast of torque at 4k revs sending one rear side of the car slightly sideways.... keep your boot planted and you'll go down the road, sideways, in a "driving god" stylee..... Come off the revs in panic and you'll go in to a left right left right flip, that'll throw you into whatever's on the side of the road laugh

Cheers
Yes i definateley get the idea about wheel spin in second your'e probably doing at least 50-60 i guess so not a good idea to be all over the place so i think that sounds about right for the cars i looked at. If i buy one of the cars i'll get it on some rollers anyway and see what's going on.

'completely boot it' next time, you'll be surprised at the character of the car with your toe in the carpet. The long throw pedal is there for a reason. biggrin

PMSL! I guess it is nearly winter so we can all look forward to the weekly list of cars 'that just stepped out'!

Treat the Cerb' with care, it will try and kill you. Mine will happily wheelspin in 2nd at 60ish! No wheelspin then all a sudden the tyres give up...
