Hi all
Yet another problem has hit the beloved cerb this week. On a very dark drive last weekend at 3 in the morning the cerb lights just decided to go out on the motorway!
The side lights remained on (and therefore the tail lights) so it wasnt a complete change of pants experience but i still couldnt see much. It did seem to relate to hitting a pot hole however once i stopped noticed that without the engine running but with ignition 'on'the lights worked fine. With engine running just side lights!!??
Any thoughts or obvious places to start looking? Could it be the control box in the boot?

You could check fuses, but it does sound as though its the control box, maybe burnt connections on its plug? Good luck.

Check the ribbon cable behind the light switch as well. This happens with me on an occasional basis.I quick fiddle with the cable and they are back in action.

Cheers guys i was thinking along the same lines. Is the control box anything special or does it come from a land rover or similar, electrics are not my strong point...

Control boxs were all built in-house by TVR,but any good electronics bod can sort them out.

Check the boxes that are sat on the tank for burnt out connections. It's quite often the cause of lighting failures. Soldering a direct link onto the board and putting in separate connectors for the affected wires is usually sufficient to fix the problem.

Next time it goes, just fiddle with the ribbon cable behind the switch and see what happens. You can do this from the seated position.
