I have always failed to understand comparing things that are not like for like. Modified car beats standard car. Err, yes, and your point is...? A 1983 Daihatsu Domino with an afterburning Avon in the back would crap on the pair of them, but it's hardly a fair comparison.

700bhp seems a little optimistic for the Nissan. Didn't beat the Cerbera by much despite a 4WD friendly standing start and double the power (assuming 350bhp is about right for a 4.5 Cerbera). Must weigh a bit more though...

I have that video, it's on a Clarkson thing about sooped up cars. Let's put that Nisan up against a similarly powered TVR (Speed 12 springs to mind), and see how well it fairs then shall we?

^^^ What he said. Thought the Cerb did rather quite well against a Skyline with 700bhp.

And remember, the Cerb in the 'original' shootout wasn't exactly bog standard out of the box. Rumours persist of it being a 4.2 with a 4.5 motor, etc.

Hardly a spanking by the fugly ricer was it - bloody thing looked like some Mad Max reject compared to the sublime beauty of the Cerbera.

Which one looks more classy? Which one is going to turn more heads and which one could you turn up a country house hotel in and get taken seriously rather than the kitchen help?

Lanky poodle haired muppet obviously changing up too soon. Far too used to poncing about in automatic Astons.

biggrin

Something about that Nissan interior, looked cheap, nasty, also had a terrible whining sound.

......ah yes that'll be VBH

all IMHO

It was a 4.2 with no cats and an appropriate remap. That's it. Went well didn't it...?

Different leagues i know... one a seriously tuned beast and the other a stock? cerbera...
but you know the saying, winning is winning hehe

I remember hearing that the Speed12 cannot handle big launch starts, due to its racing differential or something.... but would be nice to see the only speed12 in existence go up against the current crop of supers some time... dream on hey - aint happening, so it'll remain a legend in its own right for those who believe everything they read in magazines.... hehe

Anyway, In the real world, its good to see our cerbs 'actually' showing what they're made of against others regardless of their tune, no chicken shit bullshit yes

Anyone know of a Marcos LM600 out there? we should get one of these monsters down a future fighting torque if possible... scratchchin

700 bhp. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe 700 'tuner' bhp.
I had one. The dyno suggested 600bhp, the performance suggested otherwise.

Hummm intresting mate. So do you think they (tuners) tend to `over compensate` sometimes wink Or do you think it's a case of the car having the said output but it's the way it (the car) applies it in some cases?

Apart from the obvious advantage of 4 wheel drive off the line it was pretty much neck and neck. With say a 40mph rolling start it would have been a different story.

Especially in the Skyline world, you can always tell who mapped em by the black belching sub 11:1 fuel ratio hehewink

hehe Got it in one!! In the end I gave up cleaning the back of the car.

Got it remapped but still wasn't overly impressed with the performance.
Fair enough it was easy to control which contributes to the feeling of relative slowness.

However, I 'benchmarked' it's performance against other machinery and it was nowhere near as quick as it should have been.

That's funny, my GT-R had a touch over 600 (genuine) bhp in its last incarnation and, with the exception of a couple of big bikes, nothing has ever got near it on the road.

Previous first-hand experience tells me that around 500 bhp in a GT-R is faster by some margin than a healthy 4.2 Cerbera (from 70 to ~150, at least).

I know you're all blinkered here, but I really like both cars - the Cerbera looks fantastic in and out, it's English, and it's always an event to travel in, but it's engineered and built like a failed GCSE Craft and Design project.

You may not like the badge, the country of origin or the looks of a GT-R, but they're light years ahead in engineering and execution.

Kinda what I was hoping, sadly it didn't live up to the hype.

Oh I don't know. There aren't many who wouldn't agree with this...
