First; I'm an electrical incompetent!

My wiper button works only occasionally but the wash/wipe button works well. Will it be possible for me to mend the wiper button or is it a specialist headache job? Presumably the steering wheel would have to come off; what should I look for then?

Any help gratefully received bearing in mind I'm hard of thinking.

It's very rare for the switches themselves to fail, chances are it's th ribbon cable, Check under the sterring wheel and look for a 2" wide ribbon cable, make sure it's connected firmly. If it is then it's probably the ribbon cable inside the steering wheel hub that is faulty.

Mine went once.

On mine, the pad that holds the buttons, is held on to the wheel via one screw on the back of the pad.

If you short the two wires together that are going to the button, it will give you a definitive answer to the state of the button.

On mine, there was absolutely no slack in the wires to the button, and one wire had come away.

There's no space behind there to put a connector block, so I soldered a new piece of wire on, and put some heat shrink around the joint.

Good luck.

stop the press!

What is the actual fault? If the spray button is working, what about the horn, flash - perhaps a park switch before everyone gets ribbon cable on his a*se?

Thanks very much.

I've started to look at the wires and see that the pad can be removed with a Phillips screw from behind the wheel.

Tool box out again....
