Does anyone know the exact front shock-mounting bolt size?
Discussion
As the title says I need to find the exact size bolt that should be used for mounting the shocks on the '97 4.2
There are M12 bolts in mine and they are loose in the bolt holes and also loose in the shocks.
It's obvious they are not the right ones for there.
I remember having to get 7/16" bolts for another part of the suspension in the past so I'm guessing these could be 9/16" or something like that.
I've had a look in the search, in the service manual and in the equivalent parts thread but no joy.

Try Steve Heath Engineering ltd www.shengltd.com/catalog/ site has lots of bits including suspension bolt sets...might be worth getting all the bolts in one go...

Mine on the V8S are 1/2" by 1 1/2", so perhaps yours are similar. It would be easy enough to measure with a vernier gauge, or you could just offer up any half inch bolt and see what fits. 12mm would be close enough to look about right at arms length but it should be obvious to anybody with any wit that it is the wrong size as soon as you offered it up. It's rather alarming that the car has been worked on by somebody who thought that this was 'close enough'.

I would second this having got a set from steve heath and discovered the bolts are more or less specials.
