The quote was for all carpets including edging. Except for the roof - all the hessian replaced with contrasting Alacantra. Seat bottoms and bolsters in contrasting trim and Alacantra. Arm rest. And the rest of the leather cleaned and reconditioned. The price quoted was £1250 and while I was there I was shown examples of some very high standard work.

I reckon this sounds like a decent quote and I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this price. thumbup

Sounds like a good price but just one word of experience.

My Mrs thought Alcantara was the dogs and ordered the interior of her car to have several panels. The seat squab edging now looks like Albert Steptoe's hearth rug after 4 years and 30Km !

Beware !!

Also, is alcantara that Suede feeling stuff that's used on the roof lining.

If so, I wouldn't want it on the door panels.

my door panels and roof lining are alcantara, makes the interior feel much better quality than the hessian stuff

Does the water not come through the door panels then ?

Where I've had the hessian stuff on the doors, I can see a "tide mark" where the inside of the door has got wet.

But the other car has TVR's "leather" smile on the door panels, and that looks water resistant.

How does the Alcantara hold up, if it gets wet ?

According to received wisdom on BMW CSL forums (CSL has an alcantara steering wheel which lots of drivers complain about going shiney very quickly), the original alacatara finish can be revived with medium-grade sandpaper. Probably an idea to try it on a small inconspicuous bit first though..

Or just use a suede brush? (brush with steel bristles).

The brush, will never bring it up as much as a fine grade sand paper.

Alcantara on my door panels no problem.

I'd never use it in a high wear place such as the arm rest or seats though.

Save your money man, for £1250 you could have decent suspension or brake upgrade to enhance the driving experience - after all how much time are you going to spend in your Cerb with the seat reclined admiring your head lining?

What he said. Or as a half-way house, get the leather reconnolised (www.leathercaredirect.co.uk quoted £320 for a full interior on a Bentley) and just have the rest professionally cleaned (c.£50). Spend the rest on stuff that makes you go, corner or stop faster!

Can you let me have the details as I want to get mine done at some point - no hessian but I want the green bits (green and magnolia interior) black.

I think its fair to say that the car goes, corners and stops quite well enough as it is. Its showing signs of age (arnt we all) and the seat bolsters are shot. No amount of connolisation (made up word) will put them right. So I was thinking while I was at it I might as well get the lot sorted.

Good point about Alcantara on the seats though. Might give that a miss.
Cheers folks

I could give you the details but its in West Yorkshire and I'm not sure you'd want to travel that far. Let me know
