Well, I just had to get a sports exhaust for my 4.5, and after searching through the net and asking round the trade, decided to opt for the ACT non tail silenced system with CAT replacements, the one that states (VERY LOUD) on the ACT website. Thought it would be a bit different as everybody else here seems to be after the quieter systems for track days!

All I can say is Fook me, I wasn't ready for that!!! The actual exhaust note is not overpowering until you floor it, which makes holding a conversation no problem, but let off the accelerator and it sounds like the opening ten minutes of Saving Private Ryan behind you. Tim at ACT did ask me several times, 'Are you sure?' before ordering it, together with 'We don't sell many of these!'

Superb quality and superb fit (just needed slight adjustment at the tailpipes!)

My neighbours absoloutely hate it though!

I've got the "silenced" ACT big bore system and that's damn loud!

Yours must sound like the end of the world!

I had Windsor's (Longbow) unsilenced exhaust on my car for a day or so...

..it was hateful, there is a difference between a sweet exhaust note and one that is just noise!

My MOT guy refused to test the car as it was simply too loud.

There is no MOT spec for exhaust noise, the guidelines are along the lines of: A similar level of noise to other cars of type.

So, beware come MOT time.

I stuggle to imagine how much louder you can go and it still be pleasant/tolerable.
I've got standard decatted pipes (albeit with a small blow from one of the rear cans up til last weekend), and full-bore wondows-down one-tank-of-fuel run is enough to leave my ears ringing for the rest of the day. And I'm partially deaf.

Its surprising how much noiser a Cerbera is with a decat & Sports Exhaust than with standard setup.

Anything over 2000 revs and my girlfriend could hear my Cerb when she was 5 cars in front of me with her stereo on and the windows up.

Driving through a city centre in second and lifting off made a ridiculous amount of noise and shop window rattleing, somtimes it banged so loud you would honestly think a bomb or a gun had gone off.

Doesnt really do it justice but you get some idea what they sound like with no cats and straight through pipes.

I had some ACT sports zorsts fitted with 3" tails instead of 2.5" tails, but not with the extra silences in. My car has also still got the cats on, and it sounds perfect. Really pleased with the sound. Nice deep base to it.

For what its worth, and its only my opinion, decatted and sports exhausts are just too loud. Just a loud noise.

To be fair, it is a little much for me at the mo! Were I a little younger, it would be great. It sounds really deep with loads of bass at idle and starts with a bang and crackle. I am lucky enough to work with supercars, and the exhaust has made it sound very Ferrari like. When you floor it, CHRIST, very loud!

Release the accelerator though, and the snap, crackle and pop from the rear is rediculous. Some people laugh, some cheer and jump up and down, some just shake their heads and put their hands to their ears! Not everybodies cup of tea, but I'm fortunate enough to not have to drive it everyday. Certainly would not recommend it though if you do!

I also went down the ACT big bore decatted no silencer route, bought the track day sliencers and tested them today at Snetterton 92 db down from 118 db...admittedly did only rev to 3000!

Be proud and play it loud!

I agree with Kojak - Just can't see the point of making them NOISY. I mean it's not exactly a quite car in standard form is it? When all those people are looking at you do you honestly think they are all saying "Oh what a lovely gorgeous sounding exhaust note". eermm, I don;t think so.

IMHO Its not a question of just making them loud, its about stopping them from their true potential, above 4k they sound how a true sports car should.

And I don't give to figs what any of the bystanders think it makes me smile every day with every pop bang whistle and roar
