Off to get some cheese !!
Discussion
With a window of opportunity opening this week and the need to see how the Cerb performs on a long run after a very miserable Spring/Summer (see my other posts!!) there was a great need to get some cheese!!!
Where else but the home of British cheese was I to go but CHEDDAR GORGE...so the 'Cheese Run' is planned for tomorrow, apologies for being selfish but it was really a last minute thing...honest. With a sports de-catted exhaust and a new induction kit fitted I hope to be noticed by the locals
the Gorge seemed to be the natural choice apart from a few tunnels so ...watch this space...
I hasten to add that this is all the fault of the Bristol region after seeing the meet and videos they had there last year
Sharon number55 that's you!!!

Glad to be of service!! Keep an eye out on our forums so you can join us when we do it again! (although we were very lucky last year - we got permission to use the gorge whilst it was closed to the public - not sure we'd have had quite so much fun if the tourist brigade were out!)

Yeah, but it was the Hants region
who organised the one from November 2006 where we had the gorge all to ourselves
and the road was closed

I invited Sharon along
Thanks for the credit Sarah
I dont think there'll ever be a Gorge Rumble like that one ever again, if there is, it'll just be a fake copy
I also notice on Utube, its got the same event with Bristol TVR plastered all over it, very nice

Well the weather was kind and the run down to the Gorge was great with some very fine roads suited for
The Gorge itself was quiet (well until I got there
)

The drive back was as good until the M25 and we ended up needing assistance to get home

The Cerb was picked up today and dropped off at Austec. Paul seems to think gearbox but will know more once he's had a chance to have a better look inside. That'll teach me to skive off work!!

Sharon, just replying to your comments that I posted on the TVRCC forum too,
"ok ok FACTS
When I decided to do a weekend run to cheddar, Somerset, I never knew Bristol did a regular gorge rumble from the beginning, ok?
As I knew Sharon, I emailed with her for advice on a date asking her if she wanted to join us and she twisted my arm to coincide our Cheesy named weekend event with her monthly meet.
A member of ours kindly informed me that the gorge was to be closed for our weekend Nikki Merchant (never met her yet!) to be exact, she deserves a big credit there
I was straight on the phone to the council and then to the caves to ask why the road was being closed. I got in touch with the caves people who said to me the director would call me about it soon. A few days passed, I forgot my phone one day, so Lisa took it with her to work, then he rang up, only for Lisa to take the call. Lisa says no arm twisting was required and he gladly offered the opportunity, only to confirm it with me when I called him back from my work.
I asked if I could walk up the gorge to reccy it, nothing to do with Lisa (she'll be happy to admit that)), yes I know you met me at the top of the huge gorge hill after I walked up it.
I was happy with your suggestion that we would leave any gorge rumble to the Sunday.
What I wasnt happy about is the fact that you announced it all as "BRISTOL TVRCC" in every way, on the day and on YouTube, with not even a mention of Hampshire's work, just a little off I thought. Sorry but people get upset a little bit when no credit is given where it may be due.
I could go on to say that Hampshire encouraged and made up a third of GOTG night do attendees only not to be invited to Bristols Saturday drive out and were specifically told they were not invited as they didnt want to pay to go on the track run, which actually wasn't even full (even tho it was announced as full) there was only 14 cars on Scorchers led run (I thought 25 was the max) one cornish member tried to join in and was completely ignored, who joined in on our poorly last minute organised run
All truth, Just trying to get things off my chest no waterworks please
Dont start me with Driving Adventures there's another saga.
There shouldn't be any competition between counties, and V8griff thought there was no tribalism in this club?"

sorry to hear your car didnt quite get all the way back
at least you made it through the best bit
Thanks Tracey, I can certainly recommend the Gorge for a run out, a good mix of roads getting there and then the Gorge itself sorry to hear your car didnt quite get all the way back
at least you made it through the best bit

Apart from the obvious conclusion the 300 mile round trip was greatI forgot to add the wifes comment on the tunnel video (from other posting) is 'oooooo I don't like it'
