In order to try and keep the Cerb, and hopefully with a change in fortunes,im looking to change the existing policy on the car.At the moment i pay £847 per year with mannings.I was thinking of opting for a classic policy, which is a hell of a lot cheaper.Has anyone done the same?

I have just insured mine with Hagerty. Really good prices if you have the cerb as a second car. Just paid £279 fully comp!

I used classic insurance in the past, and they were very good. Only thing to watch though...the NCD you had when you started with Classic, gets lost after 2 years because its a classic insurance policy, and they dont use the NCD. After that, the NCD will be lost/out of date.

I'm with A Plan at the moment.

Sw!ftcover.con

You get what you pay for, and sometimes considerably less. Avoid them like the plague.

Haggerty have been very good and for me with limited mileage cover, annual premium is under £200 fully comprehensive.

Any NCD development and maintenance can still be achieved by your principle/first car so fear not.

Regards

Is that under a classic car policy?

I used A Plan about GBP 350, but doesn't include track days.

Another vote for Hagerty, I pay about £340 fully comp. A mate was paying about the same, he just renewed with them and it dropped to under £300. A good thing with their insurance is you get fully comp cover driving any other car insured with them, so if a few mates insure with them you can swap cars and be fully covered.

Hagerty do sound tempting, but has anyone actually made a claim through them and how did it go?

The usual experience is that insurance is only cheap until you need to claim on it...

I'm paying around a grand a year with Direct Line, and had a sizable claim two years back, and it was dealt with promptly and professionally by them.

My renewal the following year didn't really go up at all (about £50 IIRC).

This years renewal is due next month, and a change certainly seems tempting with some of the above quotes!

Is it a worthwhile change or a false economy?

Any thoughts or experiences appreciated.

Have heard good reviews about this company before, looks very promising.

Just insured with Hagerty, £320 with £100 xs, second car 5000 limited miles. Classic policy so no ncb discount. Currently have 6 yrs ncb with direct line, Haggerty says they will take my ncb and freeze it, so if i leave after 1 year, i'll leave with still 6yrs ncb, other than that i'll loose them. Seems good, plus you can choose where your car goes to be repaired should you ever need to. All you need to do is sign the proposal form and send back ncb proof and some photos of said car! Never had to send a photo of my car to an insurance company before.
