Hello all.

Well, The car has been back for nearly a week now and I'm beginning to get used to it. Still not given it any real beans, not really the weather for it at the moment, plus the diff buhes are pretty much knackered and I don't think the thump under hard acceleration is good for the car smile

Anyway, I've got a quick question about the function of a button. It's just beneath the ash tray on the tunnel. It's a little black button, like the door release, and when you press it, it lights up green, but it doesn't seem to do anything.confused

I must admit I haven't spent much time trying to work out exactly what it does, but I pretty much know what the rest do. I can't seem to find any reference to it in my owners handbook either.

I'm intrigued... Anybody know?

If it is the one I think it is, it is the alarm status indicator lamp.

Someone with a better explanation will be along shortly.

Ah, that would explain why it doesn't seem to do anything then. I'll have to press it and then get the missus to try the doorssmile

I dunno. When you press it, it does light up green. Pressing it again seems to have no effect (it doesn't go out) However, it doesn't illuminate when you switch the lights on (like the door release buttons do).

When the battery was knackered the other day, I think it did start flashing though, but then with virtually no power, everything was going mad, with the right turn indicator light coming on randomly and stuff.

It disables the door buttons on the outside of the car, so no-one can open the doors from outside when you are in the car

It lights up continuous when you press it, to say that you've locked the doors.

Pressing it again, wont turn it off, however opening either of your doors via the button on the door, will turn it off.

Also acts as an "alarm set" flashing light, when you arm the alarm system. smile

You can push mine on and after a few minutes it goes off on it's own! Pushing it again though does have the desired effect and it stays on until a door in opened from the inside.

yes

And you only disable it by opening one of the doors from the inside. I use it when I'm in the car on my own at night especially when stopping at lights.
