OK, so my insurance company wants a cat 1 or 2 immobiliser.

Mine has a small square key that needs to go into a contact slot near the ashtray to disable the imobiliser before you can start the car. Is this factory fit? If so, what's the category of the TVR built in system?

confused

You should also have a button on your keyfob for the immobiliser. The internal contact is if you have to switch off the immobiliser without the radio key fob.

I have the keyfob thing with one button which "unlocks" the car, and the internal contact thing. is there supposed to be two buttons on the keyfob then?

That one button not only unlocks the car but turns off the imobiliser. You have 10 seconds or so to start her but normally it takes longer than that for me to get settled so you just give the button another brief blip and you have anoter 10 seconds to press the start button.

You dont need to put the thingy in the square hole if you start the car as soon as you get in.
