SXS looked into this and was disappointed so few shared his dream. About 3 or 4 yrs ago I think he posted details of a kit from Japan. Very expensive as I recall.

No, just dings from when you open the doors on the Chunnel! biggrin

The biggest problem with that kind of mod, is that we'll all expect you to have already done the suspension, wheels, induction, etc - and that really would be expensive...wink

I had considered the same thing. i think that the main difficulty would be attaching the door fixing to the cars frame (I stand to be corrected on that). This is a pretty good reference point though:

It might actually be useful, tbh. As has been pointed out, the ability to get out of the car in a tight parking space could be a tad useful now and again biggrin

This is quite popular over here (especially on Opel Kadetts and the like) - went to a 'specialist' who quoted me £1000 and said that he couldn't see a problem with doing it but - fortunately - he had a Firebird in his workshop that he'd just completed. Work looked good but I couldn't get out of the car without splitting my forehead open on the bottom of the door so I binned the idea.

A guy at work has had it done on his GTO, but the things need constant adjustment, possibly because of the weight of the doors I don't think the shocks used are man enough.

You still have to open the door slightly, then raise them. However many's the time they've not been done right and you crease the metal on a door to wing contact. I'd dread to think if that was fibreglass to fibreglass.
