Sorry everyone, being new to cerbera ownership i will probably be asking some seemingly stupid questions over the next few months till i find my feet!

I have noticed on a few peoples engine pictures the intake pipes are different to mine (mine are discoloured and looking slighly shaby!) where do i get these from and are they purely cosmetic or do they help with performance?

Also i hear a lot of people talking about chiping etc, what chip or ecu reprogram is best and again will it make a huge difference?

Cheers all!
Brett

I think you need to have a look at and talk to Trackcar Solutions, He sells upgrade parts and chips for your standard ecu or Emerald ecu's if you want more tuneabilitysmile

Dont bother just yet !!! Get used to the car, fix the faults you find, learn to drive it, experience it when the roads are better and then work out how to upgrade (in June etc). You cant drive the cars fast this time of the yr and so more power is of no use. The driveability will improve but that can mostly be sorted regardless.

ps what about the rest of the spec? Suspension upgrade is normally the first place to start useful upgrades. Arguably brakes are next best.

Got to agree about the power, I rarely get past 4k rpm even in the dry at present hehe. Upgrade path = driver, suspension, brakes, engine in that order IMHO.

suspension was changed a few years back, as for brakes whats best? they seem more than capable at the moment, and being 4.5 have the larger setup anyway.
Point taken on the time of year & i will wait till there is a chance of some sun
Im used to high power rear wheel drive as my 300zx that i had for 5 years was puting out 520bhp at the flywheel by the time i sold it, although the cerbera is a totaly different kind of power and the noise is amazing.

As a point, i know the engine runs rough when cold & at idle but mine sounds almost like a diesel! is this anything to worry about? it was serviced 1000 miles ago (12000 mile one)

They do all sound noisey, but mine had a lot of clatter @ 45-50k miles. The old cams were very badly worn - new ones and lots of £££ later and it actually sounds not far off refined at idle.

50K is the time when avg engines start getting to the point of needing a rebuild. If your oil useage is low (check it very freq) then dont worry too much (unless the noise doesnt go when engine warm).

Just FYI - They're not discoloured, that's what colour they are as standard. Hope you are enjoying her!

the oil level hasn't moved in 400 miles, & once hot its much quieter, so i think im of for a while.
How much does an engine rebuild roughly cost?

depends on what is needed. £3k - £7k, but prob nearer lower number.
