I don't know much about car alarms, but is it possible to add a clifford or similar alarm to the Cerb and have it Cat 1 certified?
I'm just wondering how it would work with the existing immobiliser system, whether you'd end up with both, or it would replace it altogether, or even be integrated somehow...
Oh, so full of questions

I don't think you can ever get FULL CAT-1 status as there are no bonnet and boot switches on the car, however you can have a CAT1 alarm iteself fitted in place of the META alarm. Infact I have a TOAD AI606 at home ready to have someone fit for me. If you do this you may as well remove the META unit. Have a chat with Karl Baker (often mentioned on here)
Should be easy enough to fit, unless your car is like mine:
The bonnet wont stay down and the boot wont open unless I spend 10 minutes in the peeing rain at the petrol pump pressing the button..
I think pretty much any off the shelf courtesy light type switches would do the job although you would need to add an earth wire to the base plate because of the plastic body.

Now I think about it there is a company in Sheffield that has done several cliffords on Cerberas. They also add separate door and boot popping buttons on the remote which is nice. PM me for details.
