Hi All, Hope you are all well.

Quick question for you - when i go to open the drives side door (inside or out) the window does not fall before the solenoid pushes the door open.

Am i right in thinking that this is probably one of the microswitches that is broken / not sensing correct placement of window?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Stuart.

It may the switch that sits in front and below of the window glass. It is normally open and closes when the window glass passes it.
This may be stuck or shorted out in the wires.

But it may simply be high resistance in the connector blocks that are prone to corrosion from all the water that gets in.

There are several old threads describing removal of the door card. Its a pretty straightforward job.

Hey mike - thanks for both of your responses today - much appreciated :-)

So... back to the window not dropping - microswitch is fine, metered and its all good...but when pulling the interoir of the door away - noticed that there is a cable that is coroded and broke away - so i suspect the fault lies here. Do you (or anyone else) have a cable diagram with cable colours that show what cable is responsible for what. The cable in question is black with thin white.

Cabling diagram for the drivers side door would be great. Again - thanks for help in advance.

Cheers,

Stu.

BTW - Its bloody cold out here :-)

Have a look at the site Byker28i has setup - its linked from his profile. The wiring diagrams are on there.

Its possible the corroded wires are for the proximity switch at the lower rear edge of the door.

If it is this switch then you probably won't be able to wind the window right to the top even with the door closed since the control box uses the proximity switch to know when the door is closed.

But they could also be the door speaker wires.

Mine does that occasionally, but disconnecting the box usually works.

Today the interior lights would not turn off with the door, but after a half dozen opening & closing and then a short drive sorted it out.

TVR's for you i guess. biggrin

Maplin sell switch contact oil, which seems to have helped my door contacts/intermittant problems.

Mind you my own fault for driving it through flood water earlier this year...
