Sub Zero Cerbera
Discussion
Well, it was well below freezing this morning and the frost had been biting hard since I got home about 8:30 last night. I couldn't be bothered to garage the car so it sat on the drive all night. When I looked out this morning it was pretty much white and the wifes car looked like an icicle.
Slightly amusing is the fact that where the reinforcing cross members are under the bonnet, that area freezes over harder than the rest. As the car is dark blue, the early morning result is a lovely flag of St Andrew every frosty morning... mayby my car is a scot??
Anyway, I poured some luke warm water on the screens so that I could see, climbed in, pressed the start button...
and away she roared, no more bother than on a warm summer morning.
The affect was slightly tarnished by the fact that, after about 3 seconds it stalled, but it started straight away again and seemed happy from there on.
I eased her out onto the road, which was white with frost, and sneaked off into the cold morning air.
Also, I had the diff bushes sorted last week and the difference is amazing. No more snap and clonk as you change gear, you can put your foot down with confidence and when you are driving around town at 30 there is no more judder from the rear end.
I tell you what, I bet the previous owner wouldn't recognise this car now, it had a rusty throttle cable as well when I got it. It was a pig to drive slowly, now it's as smooth as a dead sea oilslick.

I had Prestige Performance Cars at Melton Mowbrey do it. It was about £300ish. I had some work done on the exhaust and some work for the MOT at the same time, so it made sense to drop the diff while the exhausts were off. It also had new seals fitted and a waxoyl into the diff cavity and so on. The main issue is labour as it took them ages to get the old bushes out.
I could have done it myself, but it's too cold to be faffing around on the drive with the entire arse end of the car in bits
The bushes were only about £17 each I think.
