With the recent cold weather my battery has suffered, requiring jump starts to get going, so decided to try out the trickle charger. Plugged it in after using the car and left it for three days fully expecting it to start with no problem, but no, battery was still half dead. On a closer look the chargers lights are on so I know I am getting power to it but not sure if anything is getting to the battery, it appears the charger is wired into the rear lights somehow?? What is the best way of checking the system?

Cheers.

put a volt meter on the battery, then turn the trickle charge on to see if there is a slight rise in voltage maybe ?

I reckon unless you see 13V or more with the charger connected you are probably not charging to any great extent.

13.2V or more is what you would want to see from the charger.

Once you've got to point of having to jump start the battery, ie it's totally discharged, there's a good chance it's on it's last legs & wont recover.

Mine normally last three years in the Cerb.

Did you leave your boot lid open when using the charger?

Your only hope is to put a new battery in, keep it on the trickle charger when not in use and fit a wind turbine on the roof smile
