R32 GTR VS Cerbera
Discussion
Hi Guys, I currentl own a lovely R32 GTR. Running about 400BHP. The car is fantastic, fast, good looking (imho)and very reliable. They are not the cheapest car to run, fuel wise as well as tyres etc. Should the engine blow a basic rebuild is 4k. Insurance for me (27, full NCB, no points accidents, garaged etc. What does this compare like to a Cerbera? It's a car i have always wanted, it wont be a daily driver, just a toy. Thanks Guys
I was 23 when i got mine and I paid about 2400 fully comp with 4 years NCB. I did the Ride-Drive course which supposedly gave me 25% discount. Also being a member of the TVR car club reduces the premium a bit. I have limited the miles and having other cars also reduces the premium. Im insured through Adrian Flux.
N.B. Adrian Flux are also very flexible with mods.
Hope this gives you some kind of reference

Rebuild about £3.5-4.5k but the AJPV8 is pretty strong, some people have got 70-80k miles without a rebuild. Most start using a tad too much oil around the 50k miles mark though.
Insurance wise, 23 years old, 4 years NCD, 1 SP60, Garaged and not used for commuting I payed just over £900.

I used to have a cerbera and now own and r33 gtr! lol! I would love to have the cerb back, but i do also love the way the gtr drives. very different cars tho! cerb was 350bhp 4.2, and gtr is around 400bhp. No idea which one would be quicker as they are both very quick! the cerb is much more frantic, and requires a hell of a lot of concentration to drive it fast imo! which is fun, and not as scary as some say! I bought my cerb when i was 25 and paid £700ish fc, and am now 27 and pay £850 for the skyline. Its my everyday car, and im sure the cerb would have been reliable enough to also be used in the same way. They are both very expensive cars to run, but i do think that the cerb was fractionally more economical!

It would take a total Buffoon to not see the beauty in an R32GTR!!!
Sorry, but the R32 isn't beautiful, it's a wonderfully competent piece of Japanese engineering, but does lack soul, and beauty, as they say is more than skin deep. I speak as a long standing Jap' car owner but a passionate TVR driver. The Cerb' has feminine curves and definatly has soul, I defy you to find two with the same temprament!
Anyway, good luck with your search, now is a good time to be a buyer, I'm sure that will change soon.

I just paid £375 to Adrian Flux for insurance on my Cerb.
Thats a good price. I find that quotes start about the same, but when I tell them about the modifications (nothing radical, just Nitrons, de-cat, non-standard wheels etc.), then add on business use for commuting to different places of work, plus unlimited miles, plus track day cover, I end up with between £600-800 depending on where I'm living. Cracking drive though. The Cerb however is true eye candy and has little competition in this regard
