i spent most of the afternoon today at my local roalling road getting a few problems sorted out with the car.
it was like am missfire and a lot of over fule-ing.

had the plugs changed and that seems to have made it a bit better. one bank on the engine had coked up plugs where the othere was fine.
the mechanic said i have a leaking inlet manufold gasket that is causing the rough running of the engine and i need to replace it.

has anyone come accross this befor?
and where would the best and most cost effective place to go for this part?
i have rang christopher neil and they dont even list the part.

also does anyone recomend a specialist around the north west that could set up my tappits?

thanks guys

From Wrexham, head towards Nantwich but swing North towards Middlewich. As you approach Middlewich, you will drive past the industrial estate (on your left)which has Torque RVT. If you reach a traffic light at a bridge under the canal you have gone too far! The owner (Ian Lambert) of Torque RVT/Middlewich MOT Centre is an ex-Christopher Neil TVR expert and a top bloke. He's much in demand, so you'll need to book a service appointment asap

Are you sure the gasket is not just a smear of silicon sealant (RTV). The AJP does seem to be put together with a lot of it yes.

To my knowledge Harry's right, there isn't a manifold gasket, it's sealant. I had mine re sealed after a poor clutch installation. Cracked manifolds are pretty common aswell.

If the leak is between inlet manifold and head then there are 'o' rings as seals.

there seems to be like a composite gasket/spacer about 5mm thick where the inlet manufold meets the head.
i thought there would just be some 'o' rings in there, mabe this is only a spacer and the 'o'o rings have gone.

cheers for that contact, i will give him a ring.

James,

Between the inlet manifold and heads there is a fibre spacer/gasket and individual rubber o-rings for each port.

You won't go far wrong with Ian @ TorqueRVT, he's a top bloke and knows his AJP's inside out.

He's also mad as a hatter hehe. Don't expect any visit to be a quick one, the man works 25 hours a day and 8 days a week (much to the annoyance of Gaffer).
