What is the weight of the AJPV8?

I need to hire an engine hoist, so have to find out what size one will do the job.

Many thanks
Cad

Wiki says:

The engine is also unusually compact for a V8. According to TVR, the total weight of the finished engine is 121 kilograms.

But we all know what TVR are like with figures biggrin

Indeed biggrin

Just been phoning around hire centres, and its proving difficult to find one with a load leveller.
I just can't justify buying one, when I may only be doing this once.

Longbow used one when he did all his work, is fresh in my mind because he mentioned the crane only the other day - not sure if he has one or rented one or what. May be worth firing him a mail in case he doesn't see this as either way am sure he will be able to advise.

Don't fancy lifting her out with one of us eiher end of a 4x2 and the engine hangin on a rope then? That's how I last took an engine out. Well, it was twenty years ago and the 2.0l Pinto from my old Cortina. lol

The weight is less of a problem than the length of the boom needed to stretch from the front of the car to the engine bay .

I had the same problem when replacing the engine in my Capri. In the end I bought a crane and sold it second hand when I'd finished. I lost £60 on it for a quick sale, but it would have cost me more than that to hire for the time I needed.
