4.5 Fuel System
Discussion
Dont know if im going to explain this very well but here goes.,.
On a 4.5 the main fuel feed conects to the front of the fuel rail. The return comes out of the back. You then have two fuel lines taking the fuel through the fuel cooler. Above this there is a 4 way connection which sends the fuel back into the inlet manifolds i believe. One of these connections faces the rear of the car.
My question is what is this fuel line for? As i havent got one!! I belive it may go back to the purge tank??
Any ideas?
Cheers
Mike

If its like the 4.2 then the 4 way connects the inlet manifolds, purge valve on the carbon can and then goes into the O/S airbox alongside the oil breather from the front of the crankcase.
I did some digging around to find out what was what and why. There is a post of mine from a couple of months ago describing it all.

Just found the reply to my question:-

"The fuel rail has an in and an out. The FPR has a little nozzle on top which is a vacuum take-off which *can* be used to increase fuel pressure as you press the pedal. It would sort of act the same way as a Webber used to have an accelerator pump to add a dash of extra fuel during sharp throttle openings, to stop the engine going lean for a rotation. Anyway, there's no need for the FPR to perform this function with a fully mappable ECU (as you have) so it's left open.
But trust me, you *do* have a return pipe."
Hope that helps
