Quick question...

When removing the steering wheel control box (which I think I have just toasted whilst trying to improve my headlights!) should the ribbon cables unplug from the control box end, or remain hanging from the control box and dis-connect from the small circuit board at the top of the steering column?

Thanks in advance

Jon

Sorted now, after a bit of fiddling...

Next question:

Anyone got a spare control box for sale (part no ME0153)

First place to try would probably be the specialist scrappies.

incidently - if your is toast I would mind it to try and work out the schematics/parts. I guess we'll need them soon - there can't be many bits left?

I understand that some of the control boxes can be obtained from Maplin. Worth a look or is that just rumour?

Rumour, I would say. Control box is TVR manufactured, even the PCBs have TVR printed on them, although the components are available from RS or Maplins, so if you can trace the failure to a specific component on the board you could replace it (often for pennies). In my case, I fear I have fried a chip on the board, so although the chip is a standard unit, it would need to be programmed with the correct code to control everything. I guess an expert could copy the code from a good chip and load it onto a new one.
