Hi guys

Went to Surrey Rolling Road on Saturday with my recently-acquired 1998 4.5, really interesting - first ever RR session. Car is totally standard - graphs below.

Power and Torque

Power and Fuelling

From research on here and speaking to Charlie on the day, it looks like a typical standard 4.5-shape graph, and I'm well pleased with over 360bhp smile

Torque (at around 315 lb/ft from 4500-5500rpm) is a little on the low side, but this seems to be down to the "hole" in the midrange due to it running lean - top end of 364.3bhp shows the car is healthy and has decent potential I reckon.

At wheel figures are 294.8 bhp with 255 lb/ft. Car was run in 3rd gear with 26psi tyre pressure.

Any comments welcome!

Cheers

Neal smile

Every time i see one of these 4.5 graphs from the std TVR map,i always wonder why on earth they mapped it like this? They must have known it was so bad on fueling,so why use such a map?
Neal, the figures you have are good for a std 4.5 and i bet it would make a cracker with the appropriate Track Car Solutions treatmentyeslick

Yeah - seemed v.weird to me too, but I guess that's the beauty of TVRs!

Thanks - I can see myself being very tempted to go down that route (perhaps when the roads have dried out a little) biggrin

Actually, having it mapped will make it easier to drive if that make sense. It even's out the lumps, especially around the 2500rpm mark, which under 40 mph makes a whole lot of difference.

The two people that will be able to help on the mapping are:-

Paul (Austec) at Gatwick
Trackcar solutions. Bit more north of London.

Have fun, take it easy in the wet...

Thanks for that Mr Freefall - Smoother throttle response at low speeds would be really nice! smile

Hmmm, interesting graphs.

Yours is not a totally typical map as a std map normally has two camel humps at the bottom of the rev range, whereas yours just has the one, the other noticeable variable is that your peak power is pretty high up the rev range 6850-6950rpm, which is not in line with a std map, where it peaks lower. Plenty more to come looking at the AFR graph though.

Either way get it booked into Joolz for Whirlwind Induction and a remap.....until then enjoy the power....

Jules.

Cheers Jules smile

Interesting that it's not the usual shape - will be in touch with Jools over the next few months I think.
