Help looking for ideas, experience, advice please.

my 4.2 has the standard brakes. 300mm vented disks front and rear with AP 4 pots. I run newish disks, no grooves or holes use paget pads, have braided steel hoses and SRF 600 fluid. - the pads, pipes fluids etc are sorted and work well for sprinting.

i run RL 17's which have a clear internal diameter of 380mm and soft Toyo R888's.

Does anyone know the max size disks i can fit and still get the calipers in?

i am also interested in disk and caliper manufacturers and which in peoples experience perform best

Thansk in advance

Hi Jes,

Steve Heath was doing some upgraded disks as part of his LS1 conversion. Also HiSpec have developed some 'monster' kits for the Cerbera.

Jes I think you could go to 355s under the RL7s. I have the RLs on my car and with the 330s there is plenty of clearence. The 355 disc needs a bell with an 8" bolt pattern, BG Developments said they could make me a set for £70-90 a side iirc, 355 discs were £208 if memory serves. Obviously you then need to space the caliper out and go for AP 6 pots as the inner diameter of the CP5200s is 330mm and hence they cannot take the 355 disc. AP CP7040s have the same 152mm mounting centres as the CP5200s and can accomodate this disc.

Steve.

ETA: No idea if other brands of caliper offer better feel than the APs. Might be worth getting some grooved discs when you change.

My car is currently part of an experiment for new front brakes.

I'm not sure yet how it'll turn out (too busy to go back for the finishing bits) but I'll post on here once I know the result.
