My 99 4.5 with 28K miles has had the tappets set twice by an expert(yes one of the good ones) 11k and 5k ago the last time they said they were good with no change.
I have just checked the odd bank and all exhausts are exactly 0.010 but the inlets are all around a tight 0.007 (actually an easy 0.006) would they have been set with these values?
11k ago it was re-mapped and I had low power (360ish) before map so they checked and adjusted the tappets and timing (they said they had set a non standard value for the timing which they claim improved output) would they also have a trick tappet setting?
The cars runs very very well, genuine 22+ mpg and seriously quick as a mapped 4.5 should be.
Question is should I adjust the tappets?

thanks in advance

I was told by an indie that, unless the car wasn't running well, I should not do anything with the tappets.

Now, I wonder what I've opened with that statement .....
