I'll be there Russ smile.

Not booked the train yet, but it is likely to be Wednesday afternoon, back Monday afternoon. (Year after year there's another 'tradition' which needs to be included and the trip gets longer and longer!) rolleyes

Not suprised to hear you haven't organised your 'hotel' yet though! wink

At least I've tried to make an effort this time smile

My pal sent me the details over in November, and I've just got round to looking, and found the Karting Nord camping tickets have all gone. I want to stay there as he's taking everyones stuff down & setting the tents up on the first day for us (for a fee). My "tent putting up" skills are on a par with my "booking a German hotel" skills smile

I've understand there are normally camping tickets available nearer the date ?

Accommodation always sells out really quickly Russ, but you're right, as it gets nearer to the time and people's plan change and some have to pull out, you will find random tickets available on PH often and Ebay etc.

As you want to be in a specific campsite, I would suggest that if you doing see the camping pass you want, you get it. Often nearer the time, people are selling a whole package, i.e. train/ferry etc. which you don't need!

All that said, I will keep my ears open. And, if you cannot get the camping you want, I will probably be able to help you out, but it may not be Karting Nord. You'll either end up in Houx with me rolleyes and the gang, or wherever the ACO offer me, which we won't know for a while yet.

TVRCC have tickets too of course, but I don't think they offer Karting Nord, you may wish to check?

I'll be there biggrin Really excited after missing last year (although seeing the rain they had, not THAT upset). I have done the opposite to you Russ and got the camping booked (Houx Annexe) but not sorted a crossing yet, will either be very early Thursday or a more leisurely Wednesday crossing.

If Wednesday afternoon, you could join up with me and Nick and Cormac if you fancied.

We will take the tunnel. I will post the times as soon as I book, so you can have a think smile

Yeah cool, as per chat at the Ace thumbup Let me know when you know what you are doing, then I will see if work/family stuff mean I can get away on the Wednesday, or whether I am forced into a Thursday dep. Prob is that with Houx Annexe, camping it's not allocated so arriving too late can cause probs especially as I need to be holding a spot or 2 for people arriving after me - are you still planning a stopover on the Wednesday night or will you go all the way (fnarr).

I'm not going this year. laugh Been going on and off for 8 years too many scally's just out to get blind drunk and the ACO are just getting worse and worse with this event, too many people and not enough viewing. Camping tickets will be even harder to find this year as they've hacked into yet another campsite.

I stayed in a small Gite last year, very comfortable, dry and only a 20 min run to Parking Vert with only one or two queues all weekend.

Main things are get your Campsite ticket first. The later you leave it the more it'll cost you. Ferry crossings can always be got later as you can just leave a day earlier if you really need too.

Get to the campsite early, the later you leave it the less space you will have. Even send someone down a day before to save the pitches! hehe

Things I'd recommend to do whilst there:

Get onto the circuit (if they open it this year) on Friday.
Stop for lunch in Arnage, great atmosphere.
Go to the roundabout by Houx Annex for at least 10 mins at about 10:30 Firday night. It is literally Mad... laugh
Nick a couple of pit passes from Mechanics you know to get in the pits.
Watch Quali from the grandstand if you don't have race seats up there, the noise is incredible.
Got to the Mulsanne viewing area just before dawn to see the cars barrel off down the straights int eh dark and to see the sunrise come over the trees at Mulsanne corner.
Have a Waffle with Nutella and a Crepe with Grand Marnier at least once.
Get the French paper just after the race starts (has the grid formation picture on it) Makes a great memento and you usually get a cap and posters too.

Bit more advice required.

TC mentioned buying the campsite that was available (Beausejour) & trying to get the one I wanted (karting Nord) at a later date.

I've got the option of collecting the tickets or having them posted for £12. Bearing in mind, I wont be getting there until 4AM, plus I may need to sell the camping ticket I've got, is it better to leave them for collection or get them sent out ?

Finally....phew....There are some grandstand tickets available in Tetre Rouge at £56. My pal said not to bother. Do any of you lot go in them ? What are the advantages ?

Russ smile

Tink it was Houx Annexe that I recommended, it will be easier to part with than BSJ should you need to as it's located better (BSJ is quite a walk I understand). Who is trying to charge you £12 for postage? Sounds like rip off and I would guess you are going to want it in your mits if you are arriving at that sort of time of day and as you say moreso if you want to hock it on!!! Team Langoustine are the ones selling Houx Annexe and they have free postage, they will also sell you BSJ as well if there was another reason to opt for that.

Re Grandstands, had one last time I went (which was also the first time I went), didn't use it that much tbh so not bothering this year. It's great for the start but plenty of free standing anyway so hopefully I won't regret it.

I have never bothered with Grandstand tickets, preferring to move around. Although yes, they are good for the start in that you get a good view, but actually, I think there are better places to watch it from. Ooops - imho - of course! wink

Thanks.

The postage charge was from lemans.org. But the tickets are £20 cheaper for non members. Even more so, for members smile
