busy running in the new engine so I picked my son up from a party yesterday and 1/2 way home could not change gear. left it in second and limped it home. the clutch would not disengage at all even if I repeatedly pumped the clutch pedal - it was a bit scary coming upto junctions!

switched off the engine got it out of gear. The gear lever will slot into any of the gates but I cannot engage any gears.

the clutch plate should be fine. I saw it 1000 miles ago when the engine was out. the fingers were also fine then. there are black bits in the master cyclinder reservoir - slave cyclinder seal? any ideas?

cheers

Jes

Black bits in the master indicate slave seals.

Check the bell housing for liquid, if there is then its the slave seals. If the pedal is wet, or at the top near the master cylinder then its the master seals. If they are both dry then I would get a pressure guage on the master cylinder to check output.

FFS!!

Were you very bad in a previous life Jes, or are you lying about your occupation and you're really a tax inspector, in which case you deserve everything you get. wink

Seriously, if there's anything I can do, as always drop me a line.
