Sounds like the drive to the oil/water/PAS pumps has died rather than a complete engine melt down. Could be as simple as a woodruffe key.

Isn't the simple woodruffe key an engine out job?

The simplest and cheapest solution is to replace the power steering with a peugot electric power steering pump. Otherwise it is engine out. Even with APMs keen rates this will set you back a few quid.

thanks for that,i have been told the aux shaft controls the oil pump and to expect some engine damage?.
i have to put my trust in someone, and as andy and his work have a very good reputation on this forum and he was the first person to awnser their phone i will send the cerb to him.

Yes, the aux shaft does oil, water and PAS pump.

If it happened that quick the overheat will do more damage than the lack of oil for that short periiod of time.

Sorry to hear that. It's an engine out job for the woodruff and depending on the age of the cerb you'll also need a new pump, new style sump, new oil cooler and all the associated pipe-work for that little lot. About £2.5k, even at APM... As has been said, best (cheapest) option is an electric saxo pump.

thanks for advice, and the offer of the engine.
its booked in with andy for the full monty,to me with my limited experiance there was three options engine rebuid, freshen up the engine or put it on ebay auction.
if i put it on ebay i have no idea what reserve to put on it.
wifey came up with a fourth option two old tyres and a gallon of petrol
as i said the cerbs going in to andy on the 8th of feb,on the10th i am supposed to fly to the maldives with my wife to celebrate 25 years of marriage, thats looking a bit iffy at the momment.
