OE Brake disks 4.2
Discussion
I've borrowed a couple of suppliers catalogues from my local motor factors and want to go through them at the w/e to see if the front brake disks are unique to the Cerb'
So, can someone please post the dimensions for an OE front brake disk for a 4.2.
Thanks
Tim
Okay, I've measured one of mine, and been through most of one catalogue without luck.
I find it difficult to believe that give the 100s of disks available that TVR should decide to use their own casting.
The sizes I have are: Vented, 5 stud, 290 dia', 63.5 offset, 71,75 bore, 29-30 thickness. Let me know if you disagree with any of those figures.

Just to confirm your measure of the diameter of the discs, the manual states them as 291mm.
Sorry I cant give you any more advice. As it happens, i had to call up AP Racing once to get the specs for adapter brackets for my m3, and I was immediately put through to a very helpful and knowledgeable employee. Might be worth a try as a last resort.

When I was looking for the OE stuff on the 4.5, I found out that TVR used a non standard size 322mm dia and 29.4mm thick. I never needed to know what the offset was, as I used the standard bells because I had the old 2 piece setup. The bells did at least have a standard AP bolt pattern at least, although I suspect it's probably common bolt pattern for aftermarket rotors in general.
BG Developments were very helpful in working out what standard fit options I had in this respect.
If you were looking to buy replacement discs, I'd talk to Racing Green as they might have what you need on the shelf. If you wanted to go bell and rotor, BG could make you one if needed and you could then look at other options such as fully floating discs for sprinting should you so wish. IIRC the 4.2 calipers have an internal radius of 315mm, so you have a limit on how far you can go up in disc size for the custom option. I expect the aftermarket route will cost at least double in parts compared to the standard option.
Steve.

Been there.
I failed completely to find any in the book that are an exact match.
A few aftermarket suppliers are working on replacement discs (including one over here who's using my car as a guineapig ..... or at least he will when I manage to get it back to him for a couple of hours).
But enjoy the search anyhow.

Tim,
having spoken to just about every supplier in the world this week I am advised that new front disks 291mm x 30mm should be available in the next couple of weeks or so. Alos they all say that they fit only the cerb 4.2.

Yep, that seems to sum it up Jes. having spoken to just about every supplier in the world this week I am advised that new front disks 291mm x 30mm should be available in the next couple of weeks or so. Alos they all say that they fit only the cerb 4.2.

Was your 'problem' that got me thinking in teh first place.
My disks, appear to be okay with loads of meat on them, but I think it's time to look at some bells with separate disks.

See you at North Weald - HOPEFULLY!
