I was just undoing the wheel nuts to do some routine servicing and I've sheared the key for my lock nuts. I bought them from TVR Centre about 3 years ago, and I just tried to contact them but saw that they have gone into liquidation, so they won't be able to help. The key is gold in colour and has two ridges inside the rim which provide the unique locking. I've arranged for a buyer to collect the wheels next week so really need to get them off. Does anyone have a similar set? Mine has the number 29 etched on the face, not sure what this means. Any help very much appreciated!!

Happened to me on the Elise, right PITA!

You may have to resort to one of these Windsor if you don't get any luck,

What does it look like Windsor (or didhehe)?

Same happened to me a while back with the ones that came with my car (I assume TVR supplied?) and got a replacement from Jeep.

As a last resort you can weld a nut onto the locking studs and undo them with a socket.

It'll completely fu(k the locking stud but will get you out of trouble.

And obviously you'll need to take the necessary precautions while welding.

Phew.. what a day. Well I've got the wheels off! I went to halfords and got a lock nut removal tool which was effectively a left hand threaded socket. I t didn't fit into the hole in the Spider at first, so I had to grind it down to size which took a while. Then, it seemed to bite into the lock nut but infact it just 'milled' it down a few mm. Luckily I have some coarse thread stud extraction sockets in the garage, and one of these just fitted over what was left and wrenched it out.

Spent the whole day on the car today, fixed the rear brake light, adjusted the boot locking relay, fitted a new speedo sensor, the wheels as mentioned, and last but by no means least I've installed a kill switch. I've just tested it out, and its working exactly as hoped. Remove the key, and the whole car is dead - i.e. no power to anything which means no drain on the battery!! Insert key and twist, and the power kicks in and the car goes into safe mode, with the alarm arming and the door windows closing.

On a related point, I was under the assumtion that a Halfords 072 battery was a good fit for the Cerb, so I bought one today. But it definitely won't fit - its too tall. So I'll be taking that back tomorrow, but hopefully with the kill switch, the battery should last ages now.

Also got my Cerb back this week from Newlun after having the blended lights and HIDs fitted. Looks amazing! Just waiting for my new wheels, then will post some pics.
