Hi All,

Thanks for the advice over my non-starting saga which has been going on for a few weeks.

Turned out to be a blown 40 amp fuse in the passenger footwell!! mad

Through the painful fault finding process, I changed the relays on the fuseboard - the starter relay had been 'Arching' and had left black residue on the inside of the relay cover.

I only stumbled onto the 40 amp fuse by accident, noticed this was blown so changed it and up she fired.....felt a right numpty !!!

Think my battery is also on it's way out, so I intend to change that and the 100 amp fuse for good measure.

I might get to drive it soon....hopefully

HAPPY DAYS hehe

Regards

Jitzz

P.S. I noticed that some of the fuses on the fuseboard are higher ampage than those shown in the handbook.....should I be worried ???

Where exactly is is?

Any pics perhaps?

I thought all the fuses, except for the 100 amp, were in the boot.

Obviously I'm wrong so a bit more info about this would be great.

Also interested, as I would have been completely flummoxed by a fuse in the footwell. scratchchin

I'll try and get a picture up as soon as I figure out how to....any pointers greatly appreciated !!

I found mine in the passenger footwell next to the ECU and associated wiring. On mine there is a small black relay on a black plastice holder, next to this on the holder is the 40 amp fuse.

I don't know if this is a retro fit, as I didn't know it existed either. I think it's there to ensure a 12v feed to the starter....

I came accross it as I was checking the wiring trail from the fuse board back to the starter motor cos all the fuses and relays were OK and working correctly.

When I checked with a meter, I found I wasn't getting any voltage to the small wire on the starter solenoid. Once I fed this with a postive, I saw the starter kick up - therefore, must be wiring problem.

Hope this helps

God, i'd forgotten about this one.

I was left high and dry at Tesco by that little fuse. Only had a laugh when the AA man called to ask where I was in the car park. After about 2 mins of arm waving and looking around did we realise that i was in Asford in KENT and he was in Ashford in MIDDLESEX! biggrin

Glad you got it sorted.
