Just thought I would let you all know that I've had my 4.5 Cerb for about three months now. When I pressed the start button I would get a noise like the starter gear not meshing to the flywheel every 3 out of 5 times. I decided to remove the starter motor for an inspection. The starter motor was not the original Tilton unit. It is an after market unit. The mechanics operated fine. However, I noticed that the cable insulation had broken down where the cable comes out of the solenoid to the motor windings. I only found this when I removed the solenoid from the motor. I fitted some heat shrink to the cable and re-fitted the motor. Problem solved.

Nice one. I assume that there just wasn't enough current going to the solenoid to hold it tight enough to the fly-wheel?
