I have searched for threads regarding window problems, however I have not been able to find anyone with the same problem as I have got.
When I close the doors (both the drivers and passenger doors) then the windows does not wind up all the way. The windows stop 5 cm from the top. (for info. The batery is fully charged). Do anyone have aby suggestion how to solve this problem?

I get this sometimes. I find the best thing to do either make sure the window is fully wound up before try to get out, or while the door is open close the window up as much as it will go. Then get out, close the door and it usually stops just short...so lock it with the alarm fob and then help the last bit of closure with my hand (for some reason my driver's door motor is a bit lazy)

Other days it works just fine.

Sounds like the window motor has lost its 'memory'. Sometimes happens if there has been a power supply interuption i.e battery disconnection or sometimes after the car has been washed.

I am not saying this is the cure but worth trying;

Lower the window but do not release the down button for approx 10 seconds, release button & then raise window & again do not release the button for approx 10 seconds. This should reset the window motors upper & lower travel memory.

Good luck thumbup

Is it variable? I find if mine hasn't been used for a while, then it won't always close properly.

I'm told that it's down to the door rubbers, and some cars need uprated window motors...

There was a change to the seals, which required a corresponding change to the window ECU I think.

Could you please explain a bit further on the change to window ECU.

Not much to tell. There's two types, one for the early seal, one for the later seal that replaced it. I don't have a service manual to hand, so I can't tell you how to work out which type you have fitted. But the changeover will be quite some time ago now.

Is your window noticeably faster on the way down than the way up? I'm not sure how the window control box works, but it seems that when you open the door, if the microswitch is closed, it measures the time it takes for the window to drop to open the switch, and then when you shut it, it tries to move the window up to where it was, based on this time. So if it's slower than normal on the way up, it won't go up far enough.

If this is the case, then repeatedly opening and closing the door will make it progressively worse (which I know happens), and slowing the window's descent will help (which I've never tried).

Presumably the patch for the window seal involves increasing the 'up time' factor. Of course I could be talking utter womble.

I have same situation. Thought it was just a TVR quirk. I just unlock with the key fob a second time, and then lock again and then it goes the rest of the way up.

Just seen the "weird problem" thread. Perhaps we should feel our legs being pulled slightly.scratchchinbiggrin

Farmeryardpants - The window are noticeably faster on the way down than the way up and repeatedly opening and closing the door does make it progressively worse.

How do you slow the window's descent? Wouldn't it be better speedup the window when it is closing? Not that I know how to do any of the two. Do you?

Mr M - If you can help me with my door-problem (for other see my thread "weird problem&quotwink I would really appreciate it. As you can imagine it is a huge problem that the drivers doors open when changing gears.

I've got exact problem. Manually "nearly" close it, and the fob does the rest. Why do we appear to have slow drivers windows and quick passenger windows? Also my drivers window does not drop when I unlock the car, but passenger window is ok. Logically the problems appear to be with the door that's used the most. So I suspect that it is the wiring loom that deteriorates over time with the door opening and closing far more frequently than the passenger door. I've check all contacts in the door and they are clean. Don't know about the magnet in the sill. I drilled out the pop rivetts to remove the TVR door plate, but it appeared to be stuck down, so rather than damage it, I replaced the pop rivets. All ideas welcome.

I didn't mean to suggest that slowing the window's descent is any kind of fix for your problem; I meant that if doing so helps, it might prove my theory about how the control box works.

So I'm not being much help, sorry. My car's the same. I have had a new window motor in the driver's side and it's still much slower than the nearside. It rarely goes all the way up without any assistance.
