Trying trace to a Cerbera...just curious if it's on here?
Discussion
As topic...curious as to whether anyone on here knows of this car? Was bought by pops back 8 odd years ago from Newtown TVR (Wales). I assume they supplied as the kicker plates were custom ones with the telephone number on them. I didn't think I had the reg as they switched to one of his private plates before he picked it up but I found a pic from an advert. It was registered P680XXX and looking on DVLA it's showing that it was put back onto this plate and still on the road. I can't say that out of the 6 TVR's that it was the best built but I get reminded of it when I see Mad_Mark's black example at work. Officially it was Halcyon Hebrides Green but it looked black, in fact, it's listed under DVLA as black!
I borrowed it down in Essex a few times and I'm sad to say it went back on a trailer each time within weeks (not through abuse I might add). Bottom end went at 18k or so IIRC and it went back to Blackpool for a new engine luckily under warranty
Ironically, he bought it as the lovely parisian blue Griff 500 he had before leaked like a sieve (it wasn't garaged as per the photos). The reasoning was to buy a cerby which is fixed top, therefore no leaks! Unfortunately this cerby leaked more then the griff so he then traded it in against another Griff 500. THIS one though, apparently, was Peter Wheelers own car (haven't seen proof of this but it was used for press photos in front of blackpool tower etc...pearl white S-reg with black leather). Apparently this particular Griff was that little bit tighter, door shuts better controlled etc....it couldn't leak. Ungaraged, it unfortunately leaked so he had another cerbera moment and traded it for a T350 hardtop...it's a fixed roof it can't leak! Unfortunately this was one of the first T350's (demo car) and after it leaked within 2 days it lay dormant in his yard until he asked me to sell it for him and replace with a suitable skyline GTR (he drove mine and loved it). When I picked the T350 up I realised that it was in the same spot I parked it when he first got it 8 months previous...i.e he did about 90 miles in it. Shame...but I then added a further 3000 miles to the 600 it had whist I tryed to sell it
Anyway, as much as the 4.2 engine on this cerb sounded like a tractor when I first started it up (I stopped the engine and actually rang him and asked if it was meant to sound like this!) it completely redefined what I thought performance was. We're going back 8 years when 0-100 in under 10 secs wasn't 'normal' for a uber-german saloons. It was simply stunning and I have very fond memories of it
Anyone one here own it? (these photos are from when he first got it many years ago)
regards
Ben
