£2,600.00

mileage finish 16867
Mileage 12 months 2935

Costs per mile (repairs only) 96p

So my 2007 service "investment" of £2826 got me nearly 3000 miles of motoring, what does that tell you?
Well I should've done more motoring obviously but location and lifestyle (mostly pissed) means that is often difficult.
Lots more £££ info on my profile newbies so take a gander.
guys and girls cerbs aint cheap if you've got deep pockets but very short arms you should steer clear. But is you love a decent car and you have the itch that needs the scratch then get on with it and buy.
BUT I would suggest buying one that has been recently serviced, mine had several issues that were not obvious from the pre purchase check, but were when a up on ramps have the detailed service. My preference is by an indy, but many contributors suggest otherwise.
I'll wait for those that state their costs them the equivalent of pint of milk (no I'm not jealous, not at all, no no no no ) and they use it every day to tow a horse box but I can only offer advice from my own horses mouth.
Look after your cars, keep the best TVR ever on the road.

Yup - they're not cheap to run, if your coming from a 'normal' car to a Cerb, be prepared......
Havng said that, once you have taken that initial big hit (because you bought a cheap one to save some dosh) the cost drops off a lot, once it's sorted, keep it that way.
But yes, you Newbies, who have come from 'normal' cars, they aint cheap !!

Yeah, I'm guilty of that alright......
I'm still sorting little bits on my car over a year later.
Get a good one to begin with folks.
Having said that I have clocked up close to 14,000 miles since I got it and hasn't cost me a lot of money to run it for that time, just time to sort the bits out (I'm now expecting it to bite me big time having said that).
I think you should keep the cost of a 'service' seperate to repairs and upgrades as this adds the confusion for newbies.
My last 12k service was £650 for the service at good indy. When i see 'service bills' for 2k you either have money to burn or aren't being clear on where the cost went.

pretty clear if you ask me - can't be arsed to break down ALL costs, but let it be said that the rad was expensive, the wiper park switch not so. As a approximate break down call it 50:50 repairs and service. Didn't mean to confuse our friends on the forum.

I think your £650 is good value for a 12k, but was this with a valve check Inc/exc VAT? Valves add a good deal more time. Did the £650, raise anything, new brakes, worn steering, cracked this or that, leaking pipe here or there? If it didn't then you did very well, if your service engineer does find these things then you have to bite the bullet and get the money out. Many Cerb owners will get their P and J looked at for the first time and come out with a list of all sorts that need fettling.

I often wonder, having been on these forums for a while at the guys that post stating they have "longed for a cerbera and now having sold the Subaru and acquired the bank loan I am going to get one", who then after only a few months decide to get rid? I ask myself why? Presumably in many cases they've got a big service bill coming up
that they simply can't pay.The costs I don't put down are the little odds and sods that you might spend to 'improve' the car, or looks. The costs I have put down are to keep it on the road.
Perhaps the thread title should've read, "12 months costs"

And yeah, I've got money to burn, loads of it, I'm so rich I can afford to run a 12 year old TVR!!

ER - I think it tells me you have only done 3000 miles, so does that means the previous owner got 9000 miles for free?
OR is it more correct to say that you got 3000 miles free and have just paid for the next 12,000 miles of exiting worry free and thrilling driving pleasure??
Yep me Optomist! Alway half full!
I have a SPARE window unit I got off ebay (£30 I think), the one AM was selling. My philisophy is that I'll now never need it!

It is actually very 'easy' to get service done for around the £500 mark. You take it to a garage and say "Just do an Oil and Filter change, Gear box and diff oil change, Fit new brake pads and set the engine up on the laptop" - and thats what you will get. I suspect that this applies particularly to newbie's who have come from the Imprezza 'type' world, and don't really appreciate that maintaining a hand built specialist car requires a totally different mindset. When I take my car in I ask them to check out everything, and there is always something that will be found that requires attention, and only a Good Cerbera indie will know what to check and what to look for. if it needs doing, then you do it, and you pay up. 'Southendpiers' example isn't unusual, if you care for the car and keep it for a few years then you [b]will[b] get bills like this at least once. If you can't handle that, then stick to your sensible cars.
