Hi guys, have been reading some of the posts on the speedo not working correctly due to the 'big fuse' having poor connection, my speedo won't work at all for the first six miles then springs into life and work perfectly until you stop for a bit then same thing!

Does this sound like the fuse and if so where is it?

Thanks.

Yeah it does.

It's located on the rear of the engine......

I think the rev counter is fuse related, but not the speedo.

Mine used to do the same thing, and it was something to do with a dodgy connection at the sender. Just needed adjusting apparently smile

It definitely could be big fuse related, as it happened to me. I chose to ignore and a few weeks later, big fuse had gone. I asked my local indie and they confirmed the speedo is linked to the big fuse

But it also could just be the speedo sensor - i went through 2 of those during my spout of Cerb ownership

Hi, found the big fuse looks OK no water damage or corosion, all the other dials are fine i is just the speedo, where is the sender unit for the speedo?
Is it something i can adjust or is it a trip to the specialist?
Thanks.

The speedo sender is located next to the diff and picks up its pulses from a toothed ring on the diff flange.
Make sure the connections are clean on the end. I think the pick up face should be adjusted, by slackening the lock nut and screwing the sender in till its no more than 3mm away from the ring.
Remember to spin the wheel when you think you're right, just in case the ring is bent, the pick up shouldn't touch the ring at all. smile

The paperwork that I got with my car details this problem at some stage while the previous owner had it and, after much trial and error (if the service reports are to be believed) it was eventually solved by replacing the sender under the car at the back.
