Just wondering if anyone is running one of the K3s with switchable maps.

Or are there technical issues which prevent this?

I've got quite a few cars out there on the K3 upgrade now .. straightforward change except it seems to lose the staged cooling fan for some reason .. but I've never understood why they were staged anyway so no big problem. The three maps are cool, but the real winner on a cerbie with 8 throttle plates is being able to move the rpm and throttle sites around so you really get the benefit of finer resolution at the lower throttle/speed ranges. As the upgrade is very little money on an M3D ecu it's daft not to have it IMO.

Is there much setting up involved or are there some "generic" maps available?

Also, can maps from the MD3K be copied onto the K3?

you can import an M3D map I think (that would be sensible anyway for people upgrading and M3D to K3), but I've always mapped bespoke so can't think i've ever had to do that. I just write a map to get me up and running and take it from there.

Cool. Looks like I need to acquire myself a K3 and a trip to TCS :-)

Sorry for ignorance, but how much is the upgrade for a 4.5 Cerb? And who does them?

Cheers

What scrooloose is talking about is an upgrade on the emerald ECU system, so unless you have an Emerald ECU instead of an MBE ECU the topic doesn't really apply .. (the MBE is the std TVR Cerbera ECU, the Emerald is an aftermarket replacement)

Yes, I upgraded mine sometime last year. I got Joolz to do an 'economy' (stop laughing at the back) map for when I'd be cruising down the paege I got about 2mpg more than standard.

I'll have another look at that when the car is in again Neil .. should really be able to improve on that 2mpg improvement, mind you it does depend how fast your cruising speed is wink hehe

Cheers... cruising speed is usaually around 85 - 90 mph. I wasn't really too concerned as it was around a 10% improvement.
