On Sunday morning, my missus dropped out that someone had knocked the door on Saturday asking about the Purple Cerbera.

She also reminded me that he'd called before a few weeks ago (I can't remember her telling me about that one though, do all girlfriends/wives do that ?)

Then last night he was round again.... this time I was up the pub, I'm guessing he's teetotal as the pub's only 50 yards from my house & he didn't come up.

He's got my phone number aswell now.

What's going on ? smile

Had a few people knock at the door enquiring about the car.

Last chap I thought was coming to buy my old Soarer, and come out with the 'I'm interested in your car mate' opener, only to dash me down with... 'the Cerbera!'

Think I put him off for life. There's not room for 2 cerbs in the village

Hi Simon, I got your message to late on Sunday morning.

Let me know when you're bringing Black Beauty past my house & I'll take a gander at those new wheels.

Any pics yet ?

A Polish guy knocked on the door, spoke to my wife and asked if the owner of the car was in.

She sheepishly said there's someone at the door about the car - and I'm thinking 'oops, must have upset someone whilst in hyper-drive'

Anyhow, he's gone on about TVRs, cerbs inparticular and sucked me in, ijust went off on one about how many were made, how groovy they are, servicing, meets, PH classified etc., ended up running through the history docs with him and taking pictures of him in the drivers seat with his mobile phone.

After i'd ran out of things to say i thought it time to end our little TVR love-in but couldn't help myself as he walked down the drive and shouted 'want to go for a spin' i returned an hour later with a speachless Polish guy in the passenger seat who had loads of video on his mobile and an experience that made his day/week/month/year.

Wife was worried I wouldn't be coming back as my son had told her he'd knocked twice before whilst i was at work and seemed a bit odd - drooling at the car i imagine.

anyhow, we got a xmas card and pressie from him about a month later.

Just couldn't help myself; now i'm trying to find someone with a Veron and i'll try the same trick in reverse.

D

laugh Tell me about it..... my missus gave him my number

I think she's trying to get rid of me.

Apparently, I'm "A difficult person to get hold of smile".....

I'm half thinking of changing my lifestyle & sitting in the house constantly, waiting for a complete stranger to call round.....But then again, may be not smiledrink

I bet he was thinking

"f*ck me this has backfired.....I've gone round there to nause him up, but not only has he chewed me off for an hour, he's going to take me hostage in the car" No wonder he was speechless, he was probably relieved to buggery when you returned to your street, he'd had visions of you turning up at your pals memorabilia shop, and someone appearing in a gimp suit with a snooker ball in hand.

biggrin Sorry Donny, couldn't resist.

I'm the same... the "youths" round by me occasionally ask about the car if I'm outside, and I'll normally have A chat with them. Rather that, than snobbishly fob them off, for them to come back & key it.

I only got my Cerb on Saturday and already had to show next door neighbour and take him for a spin.

Do they ALL go quite when you hit the gas?

We even took his 4 year old son in the back! Fitted in perfect!
But should never have shown him the door button!
