Hi,

Had a minor prang tonight in Maida Vale in London. Got hit from behind whilst reversing into a parking space.

The rear light cover (perspex) was shattered and some scratches and chips around it. So two questions....

Can the rear light covers be purchased from anywhere?

Anyone got any tips for fixing minor cracks in fiberglass bodywork?

Until then, duct tape is my friend and we'll see what the insurance companies say later.....

Thanks! smile

Bad luck, watch out because cracks can take a little while to appear with FG. Its often not as simple as it looks.

Thanks guys! I'd forgotten about Clever Trevor.

I'll have a good look from the inside and see how bad the cracks are, but it was pretty low speed.

Cheers!

If you can, it may be worth drilling out a hole towards the ends of the cracks to stop them spreading further... although I'd be wary as your insurance may not want you touching it.

Thats a good tip BCA. I think its just chipped a couple of small bits of the surface, rather than cracked all the way through. The light cover took most of the impact and I hope most of the black marks from their bumper will 'polish out'.

Optomistic to the end me. smile

Sounds like I've been chasing around behind you, Bellhill said I was the second inquiry this morning. smile

Ended up buying one from Racetech in the end as they had one in stock, but thanks for the peninsula tip!

Do they just stick them on with mastic?

Well, live and learn. I was showing a friend the damage tonight, and indeed there are some cracks appearing. I may need to get this looked at by a bodyshop. Any recommendations for a good place in West/Central London or nearby?
